SILICON CITES
A documentary show about startup ecosystems outside the Silicon Valley. Hosted by Hanan Lashover, an Israeli serial entrepreneur, the show explores the unique symbioses between each city and its tech industry.
The show was commissioned by an independent US media company. I was hired to develop the concept, and ultimately, write and direct the pilot episode, which I did, in 2015.
In each episode, Hanan would visit a different city with a vibrant innovation scene, and dive into its startup ecosystem by meeting with leading innovators, creators, coders, financiers, academics, activists, and government officials. The goal was to learn how the specific history, geography, culture and economy of each locale plays a role in the development of its ecosystem, and how startups and tech companies are influencing the cities that host them.
